Adding Music into Your Blogger

Assalamualaikum and yellow peeps!

As you might have noticed, I managed to include songs into my blog!!! Wehuuu!! It was a difficult task indeed.. There are tons of tutorials out there that you could refer to but most of them are in Hindi and of course, it's not applicable for everyone. So... Una will be here to help you!

If you had a blog in Blogger before then you should have noticed that the "playlist" gadget is no longer available (They had copyright issues and had to take it down) So, after thorough search in despair, I found it! One of the easiest way to include a song into your blog without having to upload from your own computer or have a Spotify or online playlist account to embed to. (Although it might work with Spotify.... either way, I'll update you later)

And yes, this method sadly have a lot of disadvantages such as:

  • You can only include one song.
  • The music player will not be visible (unless you want them to) for free access of pausing, skipping, changing volume, etc.
  • Song must only come from Youtube (for now.. hehe)
  • Song will only be played once.
Proceed at your own risk.

Step 1

Smash that layout link in your startup menu.

Step 2

Hit +Add a Gadget, and a new window with various of gadgets will appear. Look for HTML/Javascript and tickle that + icon.

Anuda window will steal the show, but ignore it for now.

Step 3

Look for your precious song on YouTube and hit share.

That would lead you to these random donuts. Choose the plain grey < > Embed cause coloured icons are so last year.

Your miserable journey will now begin as you encounter these codes. Copy that

Step 4

Here's a tricky bit, be patient. Remember that lonely window you ignored just now? Go back and cheer up that window. Paste the whole code you just copied into the content box.

You will notice that I have few red boxes here and there, so we will cover those one by one.

  1. Make sure that your show HTML/JavaScript box is ticked.
  2. Change the number of width to "1" and height to "0" (if you wish for the video to be invisible) The video will still work with different width and height and you will have control over the video, but it will be visible and might clutter your sidebar. (I find 200 by 200 to be quiet reasonable for a minimal look)
  3. Next to src="will be your video link"
  4. Paste ?rel=0&autoplay=1 in between the end of the link and "
  5. Example src="yourvideolink?rel=0&autoplay=1"
  6. And that it! Click the save button to seal the deal.
Well done! Your blog is no longer silent and dull. I would recommend looking for a compiled song video so that the music will last longer. Also! Instrumental music are highly advised to allow visitors read without much distraction. You can add a title to the gadget maybe as a message or credit for the owner, it wont bother much.

What do you think about this tutorial? Comment down below if you have a problem or if it needs an improvement. Thankssss...
